Fort Knox? Hah. Gay. But he brings up a good point. There's a big RUMOR floating around Ft Campbell that the Air Assault School is going through a period of reset, refit, etc etc. ironically enough; since they are short on teams this is taking place during the summer. I would expect the number of slots that ROTC cadets to get to be significantly lower this year. The teams will be out doing MTTs at places like Ft Knox, but it's not the same school. As you would expect it not to be when cadre are away from their normal duty station. And for all you homos who did it at a reserve base with state ran cadre...not the same as Campbell. Sorry folks, so don't try and pass that off. OH and for those of you who took the ONE DAY Air Assault course in OIF I, just take your wings off because you didn't earn shit. Good luck to the CDTs this year at LDAC

Best LDAC advice: enjoy yourself. I laughed and smiled and had a genuinely good time. Don't be the cranky, high-speed know-it-all. Take it for what it is, perform well when you're in the limelight, and help the rest of your platoon members out (in a non-condescending way) and you should be good to go.

Air Assault School is a Division Run School. Hawaii has on Campbell has one, Drum has one etc. You can say that there isn't any real one. Yes Campbell holds the "Air Assault Division". They are all "T" for trained on Air Assaults. Just like we are all "T" for trained in Mountain Ops........... Whatever.

But yeah one day, that doesn't count. You can't possibly hit all the training gateways in 24 hours.

But maybe that's what BOLCII is for? Cut out the dumb shit that ROTC should be handling, I dunno. I've yet to utilize much of anything from ROTC other than leadership skills... My sweet leadership skills!

And they still won't fire one because we'd rather give the M16s to the hooahs going down range and M4s to the hooahs in BOLCII

    Re: LDAC 2009

I know a lot of the Cadet Command information changes constantly, but on my master training schedule that I found on AKO, those events are still on for training. The MTS is dated 20090106, but I don't know how accurate it is. Also looks like there will be two TTBs, or tactical training bases (formerly FOBs). Also a reduction of 3 regiments bringing the total to 12.

I'll be out there as cadre, possibly a TAC. anyone other new 2LTs headed there?

    Didn't get the memo huh?

Dwell time for Reserve units needs to be lengthened, and budget cuts has forced them to cut a few events.

Did HGAC seriously get cut? That was my committee last year. All the prep and time that I put into that continuity book was all a waste.

    Re: LDAC 2009

I believe the total number of regiments is based on the number of cadets going through that year. We had 12 my year.

If I could I would carry a MK19 (they're so awesome) on my shoulder everywhere I went, but the Army says I can't do that... I don't know why? lol But yeah, it's funny we have units submitting ONS for M4s and yet BOLCII gets them. Priorities.

    Re: LDAC 2009

My cadre is saying that the reason a bunch of shit is getting cut is because the 101st was set to assist heavily with a lot of the events but since they just got back from a deployment they ended up getting out of it. That means around 6 days of stuff is getting cut unless they can find enough cadre. Hopefully that means they cut 6 days off of camp but I doubt that is happening.

I've also heard that they're cutting all the events because of lack of money in this recession. Could be both or neither, i guess we'll find out when we get there.

101st? Strange that the 101st would be helping at LDAC in Ft Lewis. 3-2ID and 17th Fires BDE helped last year and both are from Ft Lewis.

    Re: LDAC 2009

I agree with the cuts they made. The purpose of camp is to assess your leadership. Your ability to throw a grenade has nothing to do with your leadership ability. While fun, the grenade course served no real purpose. Please don't tell me the M16 range serves a purpose, because I remember the old "buddy graded" system. Basically you're a giant douche if your buddy doesn't hit 23. I don't agree with CWST for two reasons: you don't actually have to pass to commission, and I'm about 95% sure they don't do at OCS, meaning different commissioning sources have different requirements, which I think is wrong. Camp should be one month in the field. I know I say that now when I don't have to go through it, but I really think a month long field problem would have FAR greater benefits. They could make the lanes longer and more challenging. Really shit like the obstacle course are a waste of time. I know they are meant to test your personal courage and all, but they could accomplish that with a few things such as rappelling and the zipline and whatever else was by the zip line.

Either 2-4 or 1-14 FA was there my year, and they are both from Sill.

Pssssh! Let me clear this up...First off, guess who the OIC is for this whole thing? Suckasssssssssssssss. Anyways your cadre are spreading a RUMOR. Yes 1st BDE 101 has been tasked to provide support for LDAC. Is our BDE trying to defer to one of the units at Lewis? Hell yeah. because why are you going to take a couple hundred Soldiers away from their families for 3 full months right after a deployment as they enter the prep phase for their next one in less than a year? Especially when there are resident units at Ft Lewis who can provide the same support minus dragging the Joes away from their loved ones from one of the most deployed Brigades in the GWOT. However, FORSCOM has NOT relieved the brigade of this duty, so that's a rumor via your cadre...Anyways, yeah so we'll keep our fingers crossed. If not...1-2-3 cuh~det.
