I"ve been watching some TopGear reruns lately

Yeah, that's pretty old. Not accurate at all, but entertaining nonetheless. Top Gear America (a terrible, just awful remake) did a similar stunt but with a AH-1 Cobra and Dodge Viper.

well we know the lotus had a better power to weight ratio... depending on the armament

I've given that show a couple of chances, but I just couldn't sit through it. The hosts just aren't as funny and as cohesive as Clarkson and crew. The only Top Gear America guy I had heard of before the show was the bearded dude, and even then, I thought he was annoying during NASCAR prerace shows.
