It is about time! We'll see when this "guidance" actually rolls down the pipe though.

the lost in the woods post cdrs face book says stand by for further instructions... as for the sewing the name tape and rank and us army, i know many 1SGs and CSMs that have been doing that for a while...

i personally think it is absolutly pointless and a waste of $ to sew that shit.... the velcro on the name tape and such isnt what fails its the pockets and the top by the collar that stops working...

It was pointless for those items to go velcro in the first place. Let me take off my army tape and then nobody will suspect me of being in the Army!
Seriously?

Valid points on the collar and pockets tho.

On another note.... Whatever happened to Casey's "i can count on one hand the number of soldiers that I've heard express distaste in the beret" comment?

I'm sure its 100% true. He never asked a soldier what they thought, and none of them had the balls to approach him about it.

Lol... i think the primary idea was that Soldiers didn't have to pay for sewing any more... put a lot of people out of business though :D.

Hold on I need to grab a piece of gum "shhehehahsgasdfehfhasdf" oh I’m sorry did I interrupt your class with my LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS velcro pocket opening :D :D.

I'm curious....anyone getting any "guidance" on this on their posts(whom aren't deployed of course)? My plan is to show up tomorrow with my beret until told otherwise.

Came down that it starts tomorrow. At least for us in the Guard. Then again, we wore that shit anyway.

Policy starts June 14th 2011. About fucking time.

Now, MultiCam for all and then we go back to work on the ASU...

My name tape areas used to tear and look like shit. They didn't tear up to where they were non-functional, just enough to look shitty. Those and the arm pockets were usually the reason I would have to replace a set.

https://forums.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=1467908. Official Army directive 2011-11.

In short its effective today, and they stated that the baret is for special functions like parades and CoCs...
