OK, so some of you may have caught the bit about the terror alert going to Organe for NY, Newark, and DC... (story here (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A31951-2004Aug1.html)) can you believe this shit Kerry's campaign said?

Kerry's senior adviser for national security, Susan Rice, said in a statement yesterday that the heightened alert indicates "we are not as safe as we could or should be" and underscores the need to implement the Sept. 11 panel's recommendations.

"John Kerry and John Edwards will bring all aspects of our nation's power to crush al Qaeda and destroy terrorist networks," Rice said.

Howard Dean, the former Vermont governor and Democratic presidential candidate, also questioned yesterday "how much of this is real and how much of this is politics." He said in an interview on CNN that "every time something happens that's not good for President Bush he plays his trump card, which is terrorism."

At least some people--even on their side--have their heads in the right place:

Other Democrats, including Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (D-Conn.), said they did not doubt the credibility of the warning.

"I don't think anybody who has any fairness or is in their right mind would think the president or the secretary of homeland security would raise an alert level and scare people for political reasons," said Lieberman, who also sought the Democratic nomination for president. "That's outrageous."

And Kerry thinks I'm gonna vote for him?!??

I actually saw this on the news right before you posted it. Howard Dean was way out of line with his comments. I wish he was the dem nominee, you could pick him off without breaking a sweat. I agree with Lieberman, too bad more dems don't see things his way. Something I never understood is why so many Jews are democrats. The Republican party holds more values in line with conservative Judaism, and is a bigger proponent of Israel than the dems.

Same reason more Catholics are Democrates (that's changing though) because of historic ties to the Democratic party. It's more about tradition than politics...trends like that take time to change. Democrates seem to be be alining themselves as a party against religion

That's what I'm saying. You'd think more hardline Jews and Catholics would side with the republicans, as they hold the same values when concerning religion. Especially the Catholics when it comes to abortion, and the Jews when it comes Israel (and kicking Islamic extremists asses.)

Some of us hardline catholics do go republican. Take a look at the Upper Pennisula of Michigan. Predominantly (greater than 80%) catholic, and hardline republican too. Hell, even the all the Iraqis and Arabs in Dearborn tend to vote Republican because they're the only party who wants to help in the middle east.

Its funny watching them hype Kerry's war record now, and accuse W of "Going awol on his slack-ass duty" when it was not long ago that Clinton's lack of service didnt matter at all. I had an arguement today with somebody claiming Kerry was a hero wounded 3 times, and Bush wont release his records. I figured it was a lost cause and said "You believe what you want, but the veterans aren't buying it" "OH YES THEY ARE!!!" was the reply. Unfortunately for him there were 5 veterans standing right there (4 Army, 1 Navy) that started preaching the gospel of knowing what bullshit the Kerry claims are. Needless to say the never-served-wake-up-late-silver-spoon-rich-daddy Democrats left the room instead of taking the truth of what the veterans really think. Its much easier to believe the the bullshit and tell yourself how smart you are getting your information about veterans from Salon.com, Slate, or Michael Moore.

I'm no huge fan of G.W. but I'll damn sure be voting for him in the face of this lunacy named Kerry.
