Found this on another forum, thought it interesting.

"This AH was supporting an Infantry company who was chasing your run- of-the-mill terrorist. The individual being chased made it to the Tigris river, jumped in a boat and made it to an island in the river. The AH came down and ferried an infantry squad across to the island one person at a time. The squad captured the guy (and the AH driver lost his PIC orders)."

That's pretty cool. I've never heard of an Apache being used to carry any number of troops anywhere.

Probably something to do with the fact that the brass doesnt want him carrying troops with his very expensive attack helicopter, possibly dropping one of them, or breaking something on the chopper. Pretty damn cool though

PIC: Pilot In Command. Basically the "Captain" of the craft, senior pilot. There's certain requirements to make PIC, and apparently this guy was up for it until this event.

in the civilian world, the PIC is the pilot in command, the person in charge of flying the aircraft. He may have a second in command, or a co-pilot, but the pic is responsible for the safe operation of the aircraft. I can only imagine that's why he got his military pic revoked. shit I spent several thousand bucks and many weeks getting my private license....
