TOKYO — Japan is starting to excavate the site of a former medical school that may reveal grisly secrets from World War II.

To be honest, I'd hate to. I think it needs to be done, along the same lines as having the concentration camps as museums- reminders to humanity that we will not repeat this or allow others to do so. We don't dissect the living, especially without anesthesia. We don't freeze people to death to learn how long they can survive. We don't freeze and thaw someone's limbs to watch gangrene trace up their body. The thought of going to that "hospital" makes me sick, but still it needs to happen so these things don't just fade into the twilight as the last of the generation die.

It's history... It's not as if by going there these events happen again.
