Ok, I have never worn an LBE and didn't pay that much attention to how it was assembled, so can someone send me a picture or directions of how the heck it should look? I have the Y-suspender straps, an ammo belt, a flashlight, 1 canteen and 2 ammon pockets, 1 bigger than the other
THANKS!

Sorry I couldn't find a better picture. Obviously you won't have a kbar straped to the suspender. Adjust till comfortable, don't ride it too low, as it will be a bitch with a ruck. Let you hips carry the majority of the weight, or you will get neck pains. Both your ammo pouches should be the same size, never seen a different size. Other than that, there really isn't much else we can tell you. The majority of item placement is a unit SOP deal. Flashlight, ear plugs, bandage, compass, etc. are unit dependent. The canteens and ammo pouches should be placed like in the photo. You might want to invest in a fat-boy extender for when just lounging in non tactical environment.

Ok, did a more thorough check, 1 pistol belt and 1 Y-suspender, 1 first aid dressing pouch, 1 ammo pouch, 1 canteen.
With the canteen filled this feels unbalanced as hell. I have the canteen on my left and the ammo pouch and dressing on the right. Ideas?

At Hopkins, we have the first aid pouch upside-down on the left chest (on the suspender). This allows for easy access, just pull the flap down and the dressing falls out. Dunno your instructions, but...

Yeah we did the same here. Only one canteen though? Damn that would suck for balance.

And hydration if you're doing anything worth carrying a canteen for (if you need one, you'll probably need two).

It carries 3 liters of water in the field, and 3 liters of beer at the parties on the green. If it could cook, I'd marry it.

Yeah dude, you need two canteens and another ammo pouch...are you at one of those schools that supply crap and nothing to their new guys?...Perhaps we're at the same school... Seton Hall?!

Nah, I'm at good ole Ore. State. We don't have enough stuff for everyone to get everything, so for instance, I am one of 3 or 4 MS 1's that even has an LBE. Forget needing 2 canteens, I'm happy to just have 1! Also today at the PCI our Colonel had to have the supply guy give 6 of the MS 1's a second pair of BDU's b/c they had only been issued 1 pair.
Probably half the MS 1's have a ruck and the rest have to use their own bags.
There just isn't enough for everyone. The joys of business and funding issues!
But on the plus side I found out I get to ride in a CH-47 this weekend! (I always thought the Chinook was the CH-46, but I guess I was wrong). I've never been in a helicopter so this should be quite cool!
let me introduce you to my bestest friend ever... he's always there whenever our Supply Sgt gets us down...

In fact, if you scour the surplus sites out there, you can find some better deals, I got a pair of 20 buck jungle boots that have held up pretty well over this year. They're strictly garrison boots, I'm not sure how long they'd hold up in the field, but they give me a little something more to work with than the one pair of ill fitting boots I was issued
At the end of the day NEVER rely on your BN to issue shit. Buy your own crap if you are serious about P/R's. Plus, you wont take as big of a hit when you go to commission and have to turn everything in.

eh, regarding the LBE. suspenders obviously strap onto the pistol belt. Pistol belt has 2 ammo pouches, each over your front pants pocket, then move them slightly rear for comfort. You then have 2 canteens which fit snug up against the rear of the ammo pouches, on your sides. Depending on unit SOP, you'll have a first aid pouch either on your right side of the pistol belt by the belt clip, or on your left suspender over front your shoulder.
Sorry for the bad description, haven't used anything other than an LBV in a long time.
