...fuck him up his stupid ass! This guy is clearly beyond senile. Why anyone whould agree to him still writing articles or appearing on TV is beyond me.

Treating soldiers fighting their war as brave heroes is an old civilian trick designed to keep the soldiers at it. But you can be sure our soldiers in Iraq are not all brave heroes gladly risking their lives for us sitting comfortably back here at home.

Andy Rooney is one of those old guys who just needs to find his hole, curl up in it, and die.

" One indication that not all soldiers in Iraq are happy warriors is the report recently released by the Army showing that 23 of them committed suicide there last year. This is a dismaying figure. If 22 young men and one woman killed themselves because they couldn't take it, think how many more are desperately unhappy but unwilling to die."

1) Is it 23 or 22 you senile old bastard.

2) I read and interview with one of the top generals (I believe it was with Abizaid) that said that the number of suicides was not significantly higher than any other year.

I chose to pick apart this part of the article because I'm sure the rest of you will do a good job on the rest of it....

1. Do you think your country did the right thing sending you into Iraq?

2. Are you doing what America set out to do to make Iraq a democracy, or have we failed so badly that we should pack up and get out before more of you are killed?

3. Do the orders you get handed down from one headquarters to another, all far removed from the fighting, seem sensible, or do you think our highest command is out of touch with the reality of your situation?

This my friend, is what we call a push poll. I hate this bullshit. They're made only to influence results

About 40 percent of our soldiers in Iraq enlisted in the National Guard or the Army Reserve to pick up some extra money and never thought they'd be called on to fight. They want to come home.
They should have considered what joining the army really was.

showing that 23 of them committed suicide there last year

I wonder how many people committed suicide outside the army? Even if you look at it proportionally, there's a higher percent of civilians that off themselves.

Those facts thrown in out of context just piss me off

Holt,

that was a reasonably formed, well thought out post.... I'm very very proud of you.

Andy Rooney is a fag.

String him up.
By his old, saggy balls.
And beat him.
With a TSFFWS-34A.
Multiple times.

I leave for a few days and come back to find this. Shit like this pisses me off. More than the stupid pogues I have to deal with, more tha relationship problems, more than any goddamn thing. This old mother fucker should be fucking greatful that he is allowed to live in this country. The men and women over seas are willing to die so that he may have the right to say what he just said, but goddamn, does Andy Rooney not have any goddamn respect? He reminds me of my econ teacher. That mother fucker told the entire class that they should learn the exemptions to the draft so that if it ever happens they could evoid it. Fucking liberal democrats. I think if you don't like the U.S. then get the fuck out. No one forces you to live here, and no one is keeping you here. I hope Andy Rooney chokes on his colastomy bag.

I think that's a little extreme of you... I objected to his article, not him as a person or his right to exist or anything like that.

Sammy Sandbag

Actually, just for the record. Rooney has been making similar, many worse, comments for sometime now. The guy's lost it.

For example:

He's pissed off women:

and Christians:

of course Republicans:

Even better quotes:

I wish I could find some of his really outragious stuff from CBS, but you'll just have to take my word for it.

I think I'd rather just give him his opinion. After reading all the articles posted on here, it looks like all the man is doing is expressing his opinion. It's his job to spit out editorials, not report facts. I think the big problem in America is that retarded sheep let people like Rooney decide their opinions for them. Say what you want. I'm sick of being told what I should and shouldn't think, especially as it pertains to the military, Bush, religion, homosexuality, the death penalty, women's rights, gun rights, the war in Iraq and favorite soft drink. If there's anything that college should have taught you guys it's that everyone has their own opinion and 99.9% of the time it's different than yours. Just my opinion though...

Holt
13 April 2004, 11:32
I'm sorry you're not allowed to have an opinion... did you get that memo? I'll make sure you get a copy of that. Also, there's a problem with your TPS reports, yeeaaah... so if you could just go ahead and do that...

but for real, nice to see some new faces with well thought out arguements that actually further a discussion. I agree with you on your mention of his pieces being editorial, but I think its verging on being not right for him to have this podium to stand up on and just shout how much he hates different things or people. There are plenty of great journalists out there that piss me off, but i respect there writing. Rooney ain't one of them

this is the same guy whos last ranting on 60 minutes was about how many kitchen tools he has and how useless they are. just consider the source. can you really take a man like this seriously?

14 April 2004, 01:36
ok, for the most part, this guy is definently a fucktard... but he has made two valid points that I've come to agree with:

"You can't beat the French when it comes to food, fashion, wine or perfume, but they lost their license to have an opinion on world affairs years ago," he said on 60 Minutes.

"The French lost World War II to the Germans in about 20 minutes."

Can't deny the facts...

Let's just send him to France, where his opinion is the majority.

Why do journalists think they can make a career bashing the us as hard as they can? It's like an old, boring "shock-jock" version in newspapers and cnn.
btw, TG, you change icons more often than I go to PT man... stick with ze Hypnotoad
