Friend of a friend, rest in peace Juan. We lost a good one. They took him off life support with hopes that he might come to, but he didn't make it. No negligence, just a freak accident/occurance.

Sad to hear, prayers are with the family.
What was the cause? The article just says a scuba training accident.

They were doing the 50m underwater swim, and he passed out and couldn't get him to wake up. Crashed and could not revive him, and was subsequently on life support. Very unusal because word is that 1 of every 2 pass out at pre-scuba, and all training is closely supervised. Must have had some underlying medical issue, which is probably what the investigation is all about. Funeral is Monday in Long Island.

Hm well may he RIP. There was a kid at VMI that died after a forced march a couple years ago due to a rare heart condition. I'm sure if he had an underlying condition, it was probably rare being that he's been in for so long and been doing so much (Marines, SF).
