Ladies and Gentlemen,

Looking for a little bit of advice:
I took the apft this morning, usually I score in the 280's. I have a decent head cold and felt like shit this morning and I dropped about 30 points (all in the run/pu events). When the MS IV's did the height/ weight, I dropped 3 lbs, and a half an inch (??) in height. When I got taped, I was an inch more average over in the waste than I was last time (a month ago). My body fat weighed in at .09% below maximum, compared with over 1.5% last time. All the other times I've been weighed/measured/taped, it was done by an officer/nco.

My question is, is this cause for concern? I've always been a bigger kid (I'm 6 foot, 199lbs), but I routinely am in the top 5 in PT scores in the company. Is it possible to drop weight AND gain an inch in wasteline AND gain body fat%, or do you think the IV's might have screwed up somewhere? It's pissing me off, cause I've been doing a lot of shit between PT and practice.

Ah dude, I wouldn't worry about it, being sick might have caused you to bloat a little so that is where the extra inch is coming from. Plus, you never know about the height deal, could be you were weak from being sick and slumped over a little or an msIV screwed up...I wouldn't trust them with that at all.

If your diet is high in fat and carbs, and low in protein, and you've been working out, then yes this is entirely possible.

What happens is that after a workout, your muscles need protein to regenerate. If you don't have enough, then your muscles will just remain broken and damaged, and you will actually lose muscle mass. At the same time, all those carbs and fat that you ate will go straight to your waistline. But since muscle weighs more than fat, the net result is you losing weight.

Muscle weighs more than fat, so that's actually what happens: You drop muscle weight, and gain inches and fat% from fat. Oh yeah, and what MoJo said.
