Had a pain in my shoulder the other day, I think it was caused after doing some incline bench presses. It happened Monday, took Wednesday PU imp off, and just got down today and felt a slight pain in my shoulder. It is on my left delt, almost where the ROTC patch would be, but the area of pain is only about the size of a pens width. What do you guys think? Work through it tomorrow and do the PU or not?

not having any medical training, my advice is to keep bench pressing.... giving in to pain is for fags....

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing...but in all seriousness, I was looking to see if anyone has experianced something similar.

Most of my shoulder pain is in the actual joint, but here's my un-accredited medical advise.

Large muscles are made up smaller bundles of muscles. Your deltoid is actually diivided into bundles in this same way. You may have slightly damaged one of these sub-muscles, but not hurt the surrounding tissue. Which means you did a specific exercise to fuck it up. It should heal right up, but I might suggest that you lay off, (or at least go easy) on the exercises that cause pain. Regular muscle pain and soreness from working out is a good thing, and giving in to that is for fags, but if it's a specific pain that is unusual, you don't want to push it too hard, or it could become a bigger problem. You'll have plenty of time to improve PUs later, and if you do injure yourself, you'll want to kick yourself in the ass for not letting it get better. Worst case scenario, you could turn it into something that could damage your chances of a commissioning.

Remember an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of ... um I forget. Better safe than sorry.

Meantime, stretch well.

You might want to consider getting a small heating pad. After I blew my knee and had surgery on it, I had to use a heat pad on a regular basis and still do every now and then. Depending on the type of injury, it may need ice and not heat. Try looking on some of the medical websites like WebMD or something similar, post any findings to help any future questions.

i've had some shoulder issues before...actually i tore my laborum in half and pieces of cartilage were floating around in the join. it later required surgery.
but don't worry, the symptons your describing don't sound anything like i had, so you should be in the clear. didn't mean to scare ya. sounds like a strained muscle. i suggest rest and ice for a bit, and see how it goes. domer hit it right on the head. that's some good advice and if i was in your situation, thats what i would do.
