AisforArmy is asking for your help. You all remember the days of Operation Beer Money and some of you may have even supported it. The fund supported AIFA for quite some time in regards to hosting, but AIFA still needs help to expand and improve.

One of the improvements you'll see from Operation Beer Money will be a new forum altogether, vBulletin. The software license is pricey, but it's some damn good software. We're also looking into new hosting... Sure this new hosting hasn't been bad, but we're nearing limits with it and I'm simply preventing tons of downtime. If I get us moved I'll be able to minimize downtime to just maintenance time.

We're simply asking for a donation this time around. Ranks, titles, additional abilities, etc will not be associated with a dollar amount, but if you donate and ask for something I can probably make it happen. We're just asking for a donation to help push AIFA along.

You can donate any dollar amount, but when you do don't forget to post your username to the donation.

actually it was getting pretty bad before U4 took over maintenance duties (I should know, I've always deleted the majority of the spammers) Sammy didn't have the time to do the necessary upgrades and so he delegated some duties to U4.

Protection from forum spam works the same way as anti virus protection. You need to upgrade every now and then because the spam bots are getting smarter. AIFA is at a point again where it can greatly benefit from another upgrade.

It's true... We were a few upgrades behind when I took it and the spam fell off drastically. Since then the spammers have developed tools to work around in 3.0.5 so it's time to move up.

That sucks buddy, but please make sure it is reported to the MPs / CID. Anytime uniforms (especially complete ones) are stolen it becomes a FP issue. Don't want no stinking terrorists trying to gain access with uniforms.

Because your posts have "Disable BBCode" selected. I can got back and change each on individually, but you have to make sure those boxes aren't checked. I looked at your preferences, and it should be fine.

When you make a new post or reply, double check that the box isn't checked below the window you are typing in. If it is checked, it may be your browser (just guessing) auto-filling that selection in for you. May be worth checking your browser settings and seeing if something needs to be cleared.

When I upgraded to phpBB, the default style had the avatars on the right. phpBB was trying to do something different, with putting the actual post first. Novel idea, but too much change for most folks to adapt to.

Anywho, I covered the rest of the big chunk (hosting + license) to hopefully get this off the ground. Went through 1 host already, they sucked balls, on host 2. I'm trying to get this right, we'll see.

@ EZ - I'm helping out around here, fair enough? And with each post you can dictate whether you want BBCode on or off. Check your User CP for default.

@ Aries - When I go to administrate your user account it shows BBCode is enabled for you. Just make sure with each post.


I'm not going to fix too much on phpBB (this board) right now as I'm working on vBulletin and getting ready to migrate it over... When I have the system down.

That is an extremely weird one. Does it do this from every computer/browser you've tried?

Can you grab a screen capture of the reply page for me so I can see what you're seeing?

No, I just messed with permissions regarding BBCode. If it's now working for you I have an idea what is causing it.

I've been messing around with vBulletin all day (seems like) and it's very smooth and easy to use. Many more features as well. It's going to take some work, but we'll get it up. Converting this forum into that one isn't "cake" but it can be done. Knowing most of y'all, some of y'all will be pissed off at a couple things, but there's bound to be some fuck-ups with it. We'll get 'er straight.
