My battalion's Military ball is on friday and I have 6 pins to put on my uniform that I do not know where they go. I know some go on the shoulders and some on the lapels, but can someone please tell me where exactly to put them? I checked AR 670-1 and did a search on the web and couldn't find it specific for the pins I have.
I have 2 pin on PFC insignia, 2 pin on torches, and then 2 pin on Unit crests. And this is for a female class A uniform.
Thanks for any help!

It's all in AR 670-1.
I'm assuming this is a cadet uniform since you have the torches. I can't remember if only cadet officers wear the "ROTC", but if not, it goes in the same place as the US as on the officer's uniform:
http://docs.usapa.belvoir.army.mil/jw2/xmldemo/r670_1/main.asp#p028-4
As for your PFC rank, since cadets don't have sewn on enlisted rank, it is worn in the same place as officer rank, on the shoulder loops. Go to this link (http://docs.usapa.belvoir.army.mil/jw2/xmldemo/r670_1/main.asp#p028-6) and look at figure 28-46 (you have to scroll down a bit) They don't provide the measurements, but it's something like 5/8 of an inch.
Your torches are worn in the same place as an officer's branch insignia. Check it here (http://docs.usapa.belvoir.army.mil/jw2/xmldemo/r670_1/main.asp#p028-12).

Your unit crests go on your shoulder loops, centered between the button and your rank. Also in 670-1 here (http://docs.usapa.belvoir.army.mil/jw2/xmldemo/r670_1/main.asp#p028-22).

That should answer your questions. Let me know if you need anything else.

Also keep in mind that your BN might have a separate SOP than Army Regulations.
Ours did, and we always had a headache on our hands whenever we had to wear class A's.

Well AR 670-1-Sandbag doesn't account for jacked up battalions.

Hey AR 670-1 is great, but CC AR 670-1 will help you out with all those tricky things like who wears the ROTC insignia and what not.

ok, came up with another question
I have a shoulder cord for color guard. I know it goes on the left shoulder, and I'm assuming the part of it that has less braiding goes in my armpit so to speak, but how do I attach it to the shoulder board? there is a loop and I don't know how I'm supposed to attach it.

Actually, I believe that the braiding goes under your arm. The loops, or single strands, go outside the arm. If you've got a hanging metal tip, that goes to the front of your uniform.
For female uniforms, I seem to remember this being a particular pain in the ass because you all don't have buttons attached to your jacket, right? Isn't it just a snap or something, and a button sewn onto the epaulet on the outside? The way I always fixed it for my sisters was to safety pin the cord to the jacket, just under the epaulet. The end goal is to make it LOOK like the loop is attached at the button on your shoulder.

hmmm, the shoulder cord is confusing me...
The tiny string loop that is supposed to go around the button is at the opposite side of the circle of the single stranded braiding. The rest of the cord is super thick double braiding. The button on the epaulet (I'm assuming that is what the shoulder board type thing is) is indeed just a snap, and I tried hooking the loop around the button from the back of the epaulet, but the result is that epaulet is noticeably up more than the other one which is of course lying flat... any thoughts?
Big time thanks guys! You are saving me having to ask a lot of questions to my MSG and CPT!

You're not going to get a whole lot better than that as far as the raised epaulet (yes, that's the 'shoulderboard thing'... a shoulderboard is what you wear ON the epaulets, for example on your B's), just because something will be under it... no two ways about it.
Do you have one little string loop, or two? I was assuming that you have two, in which case you would need to tie a knot or something, or pin them both to your jacket. In the case that you only have one, simply tie/pin the string loop to the braided part of the cord, and then pin the whole thing up to your jacket. You don't want the braid under your eqaulet, that's what the string is there for.
Does that make any sense at all?

Oh, and I would suggest finding an older cadet on the color guard who's squared away to go to first, before cadre. ;)

our colorguard is entirely MS 1's. No other class had any interest and they needed people for the veterans day parade, so 6 of us volunteered and the rest is history!
I will ask the MSG in charge of CG about it tho, cause I am rather confused I'm afraid.
Thanks anyway!

Consider yourself lucky, we have so many upperclassmen, I think I'm going to have to start breaking kneecaps or something to get into a colorguard.
