Are you near a military installation of any kind? If so, go to their travel office and they should have plenty of information. Otherwise search online for "Space A" travel or something there abouts. It's been years since I've done it, so I can't really give you any details. I flew from the States (Charleston AFB I believe) to Germany twice. Once aboard a C-130 and then on a C-5. Just make sure you bring ear plugs.

Do NOT sit next to the toilet. Really BAD idea. It is NOT worth the extra legroom.

i am pretty close by to a big AF Reserve base. they deal with mainly c-130's so i might give them a try. my buddy said he was bumped from his flight from ohio to texas on the day of flight. its not worth it if they are gonna pull that stuff on me. he was a cadet then, so i figure as an LT things might change a bit. thanks for the info.

Actually it doesn't matter at all what your rank is. You are flying space "A"vailable. So if they've got something more important to fly or move, then that's what they do. I've been bumped before and had to wait. You're flying free so you can't complain too much, it's part of the deal. Also remember there is a war on right now, so there might not be many available spots.

Space A is open to all active duty and retired military personel from what i understand. if you are gonna go somewhere tho, plan a 3 day bubble on each side. and make sure you have some money just in case shit happens. I know agirl that went to Germany and she was bumped 3 days on the return.

Goddammit un4given, now you're resurrecting threads too.

I believe all you need is a valid military ID and you're eligible.

If its the same as when I was a Cadet you can fly overseas but not within CONUS.

Go to Dulles, you can fly Space A to Germany via the German AF unit at Dulles.
