Simultaneously, the new name will lead to a cultural shift away from the unstructured group of inactive individuals into a cohesive group of Soldiers who are trained, aware and ready to augment Army missions when called upon.

Secretary of the Army Francis J. Harvey endorsed the move to reset and reinvigorate the IRR through several programmed initiatives to transform the Army’s leading prior-service talent bank.

What needs to change is how we indoctrinate the idea that once you're off AD, you're not necessarily done yet. Too many folks leave AD with 3-4 years left on their commitment and go into the IRR thinking they're 'done'. So what happens during a call up? They bitch and whine that it's sooooo unfair they are being recalled.

Good gobbledy gooly! This is as ate up as a soup sandwich.

"Army of one? I ain't fightin by myself!"

"Individual Warrior" who'll be considered part of "a cohesive group of Soldiers who are trained, aware and ready to augment Army missions when called upon." ?!?!? :-?

& I thought the term "military intelligence" was a stupid oxymoron... :o

P.S. I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't brought to us by the same freaks that gave the USAF their "sovereign options" clause in their new mission statement. WTF does THAT mean? & IMO, it makes about as much sense...

Recruiters and career counselors will brief all Soldiers entering the service and transitioning between components so they understand service obligations and training requirements in the Army Reserve.

Ya, that didn't happen last week.

As for getting called up: I did everything I could to get back to Iraq. I spent a year volunterring to go. If they call me up as an "Individual Warrior" I will not be happy.
