Army ROTC
MS1 - E-3/PFC

Rochester Institute of Technology
Rochester, NY
Major: Mechanical Engineering - Automotive

Used to live in CT, parents moved to Corning, NY just before I went off to college.

I'm not currently on scholarship, but I should be getting a three year one once I retake my DODMERB exam [apparently they couldn't pull up the one I took when applying to USMA].

If you care to know more, ask.

No, but I'm thinking about it.

That's how they do the rank here.

If you are talking about Cadet rank then you need to remove the "E-3". That is a pay grade.

I haven't decided if ROTC ribbons are easier or harder to get than real army ones...I think I have 5 and all I did was graduate basic training and get sent to Korea.....

ROTC ribbons mean pretty much dick to me. The only ribbons I'll ever wear on an ROTC uniform are P/R ribbons. I don't even wear weapons qual badges, because officers don't wear them, why should I?

The only weapons qual badge that people in the real army wear is Rifle...even then a lot of people don't and pretty much everyone has expert.

For our EIB testing (I missed it because I got to the unit a few days too late to start EIB testing), they used M-16s with ACOGs (3x zoom) to qualify...personally I could do it with iron sights but there is NO WAY IN HELL you can not get expert with that setup (they also let people retest if they failed)...

So basically why would you wear a ribbon/medal that everyone else just basically gets...it seems like they all are like that and personally I wouldn't mind if they just got rid of ribbons and shit like that altogether. WAY TOO MUCH SHIT ON THE UNIFORM.

Nate, rest assured that the issue of ALL qualifying expert on the M-16 w/ ACOGs is already being addressed, to the point where changes to the range layout & testing procedures are in discussion as I type this.

& the reasons why I didn't wear my tank expert badge are 1) I was told occifers didn't wear them anyway & 2) you don't earn it as an individual, so why wear it on your individual uni?

For the same reason I don't think Armor should have anything like the CIB...

CombatCady

You probably know more than I do about it, but I should think that Armor should have something like the CIB. Sure, there's more than one person in the tank, but hell, that just means that if one person in the tank wears it, everyone does. A team is still made up of individuals. Give the group one, each man wears it. Just my $.02

CC, what if one of the 4 has to carry the weight for most of the other 3 to get the job done. Still think all equally deserve that "crew" badge on their individual uniforms?

My reasoning for NOT having one. See someone with an EIB, you know THEY individually met or exceeded the standards to have earned it.

Of course, I see someone with a CAB, I ask them what the fuck their combat patch is for.
