Maybe someone who has commissioned Guard and gone through the system can answer this for me because no one at my school seems to know.
I'm getting ready to commission into a National Guard unit as an MP with ROTC as my commissioning source. Do I get my BOLC/OBC dates through Cadet Command (branch manager) or through my unit? (I have known of some cadets to get slots through their units). I don't want to be one of those Guard LTs who wait a year or so to get an OBC date.
Any help/advice from Guard officers would be greatly appreciated.

I commissioned Guard, originally I got my OBC date from Cadet Command. Same thing with all the others in my class that were guard/reserve. When I wanted to change dates so I could GBR, I just talked with the S-1 shop and they took care of the rest.

Did you originally ask for GBR when you sent the assecions packet up way back when? I initially said I didn't want to GBR. But looking at it now, and looking at the BAH, etc they're getting here, I don't think I'd mind it. Is it easy enough to just ask my PMS to GBR (esp. if there's time before bolc2, etc)? I'm active, though, not reserve/guard. Just curious.

if you didnt ask for GBR you stand a good chance of going to LDAC or LTC ... sucker!

i definitely asked to be a GBR and said NO to LDAC/LTC...Considering BAH is $900/month and my lease of $475/month goes through August, I'm hoping it works out.

well i said no for everything. ldac and ltc included. i dont know anyone that was forced to ltc or ldac without asking for one of them. i do know, on the other hand, some people who went gbr without necesarilly planning to do so...i just dont know if they originally said "no" when they sent up thier packets.
