Currently I am a civilian have had 4 years under my belt of JROTC and more then a couple of years of military training.(seeing as how both of my parents were in during Vietnam)
So if I havent ruined anybodies pissing contest with me go ahead and post a reply
I know that some of you think that i am a cocky sob that needs to be taken down a notch i just come off that way when you first get to know me. So catch you all later.
P.S. If you want to know anything about me just ask.

You may want to try inserting some more punctuation into your posts, commas come in handy. Don't worry, some one else will point this out too, I'm sure of it.

welcome. but where the hell did that come from. kinda like going into a prison and saying that you are the biggest badass on the block.
but yeah, JROTC? Military service? both my parents were in the military, but i didnt have any type of training till i actually went. so did dad put you through bootcamp at the house or something?
and yeah, if we think you need to be taken down a notch ill post pictures of the outfit your girlfriend wore for me last night while she was strapped to the bedpost

Well I went to a Boot Camp for JROTC and my parents might have well have. I was training with the national guard for 1 1/2 years when I was 13. So I think I am cut out for the real military. I am trying to get into the Spec. Forces, and make a career out of it. Well thanks for the humor.
tazrjs2001
4 September 2005, 19:34
Oh and the reason I started out on the defensive is I read some of the others FNG posts and their replies and decided that if I sounded like a wimp that I was going to to be treated like one. So sorry if I came off too strong.
:D

JROTC boot camp. leadership camp. i remember when i was in NJROTC and the silver cords were the cool ones cuz they went to "leadership camp". i shoved my acceptance to USMA in their face and said "now thats leadership camp bitches"
and that doesnt make you ready bro. not at all. and how old are you now?

So... I am still curious about the whole NG training you did when you were 13. What kind of training did you do exactly?

Quick commentary- not meant to put you on the defensive, but here are the keys to not having an extra asshole ripped on here...
1) I don't care what your mommy, daddy, aunt, brother, sister, cousin or best friend did. That's the beautiful thing about America- I'm going to judge you on who you are as a person and what you have done. On this forum highlighting yourself with your parents won't get you anywhere, no matter how much you learned from them. I want to know what you think, how you think, and what you do about it. You'll go far that way on here and in life.
2) Don't grab a random insignia- if there is any question what branch the military will assign you to, don't claim it yet. If there is no question (it's in your contract or you've been officially branched), go ahead.
3) Try to avoid starting out bordering on rude- it puts a bad taste in people's mouths and is more likely to have people treat you badly. The key is to speak intelligently about what you know and keeping an open mind long enough on the rest to form an educated opinion with some background. The FNGs that don't are usually the ones torn up.
And with that, welcome. Look forward to hearing what you've been up to the last few years, what branch of the service you're looking at, and your favorite breakfast cereal. Take care- KN

i appreciate your courtesy of giving me that. i have not meant to step on so many toes, and for that i will apologize. i am having trouble finding a happy medium between everybody. i like the fact of people helping me but if you are not going to give an fng a chance to redeem himself then dont post on my topic. i was asked to change from jrotc so i did to something i was intrested in and have been for right at all my life. and apparently i stepped on somebodys toes with that and for that i am sorry. i am going to try to stay on peoples better sides.
and to answer 96usarmys question it was for probation i went for the whole one weekend a month and did pt and confidence stuff, with them.
i am difinately looking at being in the sf and am trying to get there to the best of my ability.

Aim high, but don't aim so high that you can't reach out & touch your dreams every so often.
Trying for SF is commendable--but fall-back plans do you have if you can't make it? You'll have already signed up & re-upped at least once (have they reduced the E-5 minimum for entrance?)...
96USArmy
6 September 2005, 17:59
I think you can be an E4 to be SF, I know you can go to SFAS as a PFC, a friend of mine is going later this fall as an E3.
Skull6
6 September 2005, 18:37
I ask, because a while back, I heard rumors that they might be "recruiting" for SF right out of basic--which would be a bad call, imo.
Ezmartini
6 September 2005, 20:11
SF contracts are available right when you enlist. You go from Basic to Airborne to SFAS.
96USArmy
6 September 2005, 20:40
Yeah I forgot about that one... Join right up as 18X, Special Forces Recruit. Dont know what happens if you fail out, probably become an 88M ::lol::
MistahKurtz
6 September 2005, 20:47
I believe that you get E3 straight outta basic and E4 somewhere along the way and E5 automatically if you pass the Q course, no board or anything.
Cerebroden
7 September 2005, 16:44
so let me get this straight you come here hyping how you talk shit and how we need to get to know you, and tell us your dreams of becoming sf and all this other bullshit, and you can't even make hieght/weight yet?
damn I wonder what other bullshit you have said in the 2 pages i skipped over

7 September 2005, 18:39
If you are really serious about SF, I hope you are in really good shape. And if you are really 38% body fat, I dont know how good of shape you could be in. How did you get the 38% figure? And have you done any kind of diagnostic PT test for your recruiter lately?
tazrjs2001
8 September 2005, 00:41
no diagnostic pt tests but i have had absolutely no prob passing every pt test i have had. and i had a recruiter tape me the other day to get thet figure
96USArmy
8 September 2005, 09:39
Well if you have taken a pt test, it would be a diagnostic. Otherwise it would be a record pt test. How is your run? If you are thinking SF, you will want to make absolutely sure you are prepared, so do a lot of distance running and ruck marching to condition yourself. But if thats really what you want, god luck with it. Are you going to join as an 18X?
bisforbeer
8 September 2005, 20:48
Dude, if you're having trouble making height weight you'd probably be better off picking another MOS you like, then going for SF after a few years. Otherwise if you go 18x and flunk out you're gonna get shafted with whatever job nobody else wants.
Not that I would know much about this, but it seems like a much safer bet to me.
Jake the Skillet
8 September 2005, 22:44
ok, I know that I haven't had the illustrious AIFA career that say KN or Aries have, but is anyone willing to call bullshit on this???.....
I think that one of two things have happened.
#1 Talked to a recruiter about being an 18X and he just kinda snickered and threw him an SF poster or somethin'
#2 He didn't even really talk to anyone about joing anything.
It seems to me that people (not just in this forum, but in others) that are as hyped up about doing somethin' in the Army as this 23 year old 13 year old, that you'd look up any information possible. GOOGLE works!!! I'm gonna call it like I see it, because that is how I operate.
I say poser.

If your worried about offending someone, killing people may not be your best career choice.

9 September 2005, 06:18
everyone has goals and ambitions.
and jake, we havent really had as much of an illustrious career as say Gambit, Domer, TG, Sammy, Dirk, Airborne Ali, Neo or any of them have had. Without those people to lay the path, whores like myself, Un4 and KN would not exist
96USArmy
9 September 2005, 08:19
Man, we talked about it earlier in this thread, 18X being SF recruit.... And if I were you, my route to SF would be to sign up as 11B, with airborne in my contract if I could get it, and then do that for a while. That will at least get you used to the real army, and then if you want to go Ranger or SF, you will be better prepared. Thats just how I would do it.

96USArmy
10 September 2005, 17:33
Aries - I think he was referring to your career as "illustrious" based on the sheer number of your posts.
Taz - I think you are at least doing the smart thing by asking for more info from people who might know shit about it. Unfortunately, I doubt if you will find any actual SF operators online. You have your goal, which is good, just make sure you are actually committed to it, and work your ass off to get there. With something like SF, you cant half-ass it and think you will succeed. Too bad you dont live close to a base that has a SF unit, so you could talk to someone who HAS done what you want to do.

You will not cut it in the SOF community. For that matter reading your posts I don't suggest Combat Arms. I'm normally not one to tell people not to go for something, but if you don't have a PT score above 280 and you have to make at least tape if not height/weight.

He might cut it in FA or something. I dont know, I have seen quite a few out of shape E-2s and E-3s in the INF battalions I work around. Judging purely from his grammar and spelling, I would say probably anything technical would be out. I may be wrong. I think he should be an engineer, so he can run around like the rest of the jackass engineers in my battalion, saying "Sappers lead the way!" even though most of them arent Sapper-tabbed.

Lmao, you know, half the reason I said that was to get a reaction from you, Associate. And if you say "Sappers lead the way!" and you AREN'T a sapper, you deserve to be called a jackass.
Besides, my "toy plane" will get me a job starting at better than $70k a year when I get out. I like my toy plane.
