...the Canadian Air Force. Like it would make a difference. What do they need a military for anyways? They don't support us, they wouldn't even be able to defend Canada without our assistance. They should disband the Canuck military and sell off all their equipment to the American boy scouts and state guard, where they'll be put to better use.

On the other forum I'm a regular at, Canadians often complain about their liberal government screwing the military and using outdated equipment way beyond their life expectancy. BTW, there is no separate Air Force branch there. All branches were combined in 1968 into the Canadian Armed Forces.

Gay. But it probably cuts down on some of the inter-service rivalries and such that we experience.

Gay. But it probably cuts down on some of the inter-service rivalries and such that we experience.

But that apparently has caused problems too. When I first heard of it, it was explained to me, "Imagine the Army and Air Force being told that they must adopt Navy rank and insignia and Marine BDUs" It loses a lot of the pride they have in their branches at the same time.

To summarize Sammy and the general opinion of quite a few military people: Canada's military is worthless and never helps us.

As much as I REALLY hate to do this, I'm afraid the opinion is lacking some key facts. A MAJ at my battalion just returned from Afghanistan and showed us pictures from there. Canada has a decent force there, so sadly I think we need to be a little nicer regarding them. they are helping us, we just don't know it.

Most of my comments were half joking, the other half was directed towards Canada's extremely liberal government, not so much their military. I would take a Canuck over the Frogs or Krauts any day. It's just a shame that they are wasting away while their government becomes more and more a socialist state. Instead of using tax money to fund the military, it goes to more and more social programs. That's all fine and dandy, everone gets free drugs. But what exactly is that doing to better the free world. The US has made a commitment of promoting democracy and freedom around the world since our nations birth, but even more so during the 20th and 21st centuries. The only reason we are able to do this is because of our military strength. More and more countries and reducing their militaries and dumping the resposiblity of defending the free world onto America. Canada supplied a very limited number of troops to us for Enduring Freedom, but none for OIF.

I could tell you were joking Sammy. Many of the guys I talk with on the other discussion board are Canadian or are with the CAF somehow. They are supportive of the United States and they do not like the way their government has been for a long time. To them it has become way too liberal and like I said before, are neglecting the military. I posted this same article and have had many responses. All of them were basically the same. The government is screwing us, we need to support the military more. Don't get them started on Chretien.

Would it be worth our time? I mean, c'mon. Their rank insignia says 'Canada' on it for christ sake...

Sure, there would definitely be a huge cost associated with re-outfitting them, which might not fly with all the other Iraq/Afghanistan stuff right now. Maybe we just take over, and say that anyone wearing Canadian rank is automatically a PVT. That would clear up a lot, on so many levels...
