For anyone in the Reserves:
What is the logic in having Weapons Qual in December? And what would possess the people in charge at my unit to "forget" to let Ft. Boredom know we were going down there till too late? So now we get to sleep in tents. In December. And they're calling for snow, sleet, or a "winter mix".
I know, I know, at least I only have to do this one weekend a month. At least I'm not activated and "hanging out" in the desert.
I'll shut up now.

Ah yes sounds like someones going to be in fort drum this weekend. I feel your pain for some reason we did our weapons qual over 2 different drills, the first one i had to be a range saftey because i was a cadet and the second one it was so cold i couldnt dip (ok could but i was still fucking cold) and not only that the supply sgt couldnt get me size 11 overshoes and i froze in my leg boots.

Yeah I enjoyed my time in Texas. I was at Hood for 3 years. Ft. Hood/Killeen isn't the best place but it is in the center of the state so you can travel around fairly easily. Dallas and San Antonio are only 3 hours away. Austin is like 45 minutes away, and that's a pretty fun town. I'd like to go back some time soon, just as long as it isn't Ft. FuckingHorribleDesert. Just ask the Sharaffe about that.

Ft. Sam Houston isn't too bad either, plenty of Med. Svc. chicks bouncing around, and you're in the middle of a great city as well. Was at Bliss a bit myself as well... that can get old, although it's initially a nice city (just small, and very Mexican). Love TX overall, though. Gonna move there someday.
