View Full Version : Restoration of Rank?
Ok since Google and my Chain of Command has failed me.... what is the time limit for restoration of rank after a demotion? AR 27-10 goes over everything BUT the time between demotion and promotion.
Enlisted - 29MAR2000
Months TIS - 9
Months TIG(PVT) - 9
Advanced to PV2 - 13DEC2000
Months TIS - 15
Months TIG(PV2) - 6
Advanced to PFC - 13JUN2001
Months TIS - 37
Months TIG(PFC) - 22
Advanced to SPC - 19APR2003
Months TIS - 53
Months TIG(SPC) - 16
Demoted to PFC - 06AUG2005

Not sure what the real answer is, but we had one SPC in my troop who wasn't the brightest bulb in the basket and peed hot on a UA. They busted him down to PFC. He was going to get it back within 6 months, but did something else stupid in Iraq and his promo was put on hold for another 3 months. So I guess my guess is it depends on your chain.

I didn't think there was an automatic lift. I thought once you were busted, you were considered to be maybe mid-level in the lower rank, starting up the ladder again from there.
But it's been a while, & Germany had some strange rules to begin with.
From what I could figure out in AR 600-8-19, is that you have MORE than enough TIS and TIG. Your Bn Cdr authorizes your promotion. Co Cdr recommends you.
If the Art 15 was a company grade level, you only have to wait 7 days; Field Grade is 15 days, and higher is 30 days before you are eligible for promotion again.
'don't know how they compute it for the RC side of the Army.
Recommend you get down on your knees and kiss up to your CO and hope they put you back on the list.
Have you been to PLDC yet? With that and your TIS and combat experience, you should be a hard stripe.

My last question is (& don't answer if it'll harm your chances)...
"Who's the well-deserving fuck that you beat the shit out of?"
No. He just got screwed over on a weekend drill. Put in for leave, some butthead sat on it, and when he didn't show up for weekend drill, he got busted for AWOL or something. -- he explained it somewhere else in a thread...

Sorry. Didn't catch it till now.
Well, if that is indeed the case, whoever sat on it deserves a blanket party in the worst way, if it resulted in someone losing rank over it. My personal opinion, of course.
Readiness NCO who is a SFC sat on my request for 60 days.
Still waiting on the second half of my enlistment bonus which was due to me almost 2yrs ago. I finally decided to go straight to the NGB and now it is getting processed.
So ya I've decided to skip his desk now. I refuse to try and get anything done by going to him.
The reason I don't have my stripes is because of STEPPA(sp?) points. Since most of our guys are college kids their points are through the roof. If I was active duty I'd already be an NCO. I hope I get my E-5 if this next Iraq tour goes through.

Wes,
How is the rest of your points... ?College only counts up to 75 points... and that's if they have a BS/BA.
You could make up for those college points by taking correspondence courses and maxing them out... PT and rifle quals count heavy too. I am sure you have a bunch of awards...
Sit down with your 4100 and look at places you can improve. It's amazing how many times you can improve just by making sure your schools are listed and looking for errors.
The address below is an excellent brief by the RI Guard.

PM me, I work at NGB and can help if you need anything else... PS... wanna college scholarship?

Okay... so... a couple of things...
Up your rifle qual... that's 25 more points.
Go here and apply for an educational review. It's a free service to Guardsman. https://132.137.24.12/edevalapp.cfm
You didn't mention correspondence school credits... https://www.aimsrdl.atsc.army.mil/secured/accp_top.htm
Look at the subcourses and enroll in a BUNCH of them... They will send you the books if they have them... most are online. You need over 300 hours to max out the points...
*Edited because it was a stupid question*
Update time:
I've been working with my CO, XO, Readiness NCO, and a cadet for the past few days cleaning out Milvans at the Armory. So this has given me a chance to BS with the most important people in my "Higher".
Looks like I might be able to get them to suspend or remove my reduction. I got in contact with the FLNGB and got the second half of my bonus. The NGB called Battalion and now the paperwork is getting sent to the TAG for approval for my Iraq slot.(Everyone thinks I'm insane for volunteering and they have checked with me 3 different times to make sure this is what I want to do. Yes the NGB told my CO to ask me again if I was sure.)
So when/if I ever do go back to Iraq there is a good chance I'll get my E5. I also checked and my STEPPA points made the cutoff, and they don't even have all my stuff counted up.
It is even looking like I might be able to get some of my Master Driver stuff done this coming drill.
Yay for shit finally turning around for me.

congrats Wes. see what happens when you dont threaten people and do something 8)
My CO just called me a bit ago and told me I am now released from the Battalion in support of OIF. He said he has never seen the Army move paperwork so fast.
Looks like I could be sent out in the next few months!
