Hahahaha! Fuck the airport!
Okay I was scheduled for 2240 to ATL, however, there was a hurricane goin' on down there so they bumped it back to 2335. That pushed me onto a later flight from ATL to NN and even that flight was bumped back an hour. I got soaked running out to my lil pond hopper because the rain was fucking insane.
Anywho, more updates later.

Mighty deuce biatch. ;)
CombatCady
13 July 2005, 18:38
Two of our cadets got Recondo, from what I heard. While it's something good to strive for, I think they should rename it.
Un4given
13 July 2005, 18:41
Overall recondo is easy as fuck to get. It really should be just the APFT award because that's the only challenge to most is the APFT part. Make it something difficult and then it would be worth striving for.

Were the HGAC standards tough still?
Chronotron
14 July 2005, 10:53
It seems like they nerfed camp overall. I don't know how it was for you guys but in 4th reg they cancelled the 10k and 8k marches because too many cadets in 1st reg were getting hurt.
Un4given
14 July 2005, 10:56
Yup... Road marches went down the drain for 3rd.

Yeah, patrolling did the trick. We also had a lil 5k at the end of it... Considering everyone was tired as fuck it probably did a number on some people.

It was pouring down rain the last day of 4th reg patrol lanes, needless to say we didn't complain when they told us about the reduction.

Hey, I'm a long time lurker that doesn't know any of you...but which of you all were in 3rd reg (3rd ACR...Brave Rifles!)? What plt/troop?
Wish I could put a face in front of your posts. Wish I had spent more time posting/getting to know some of you before ldac so i could actually seek youall out. It'd be crazy if any of you were actually someone from my plt all the while. I was 1st plt/A troop (ahem. the COUonlyUGH one with the streamers). And whats all your take on the whole thing? The feedback I've been getting from all the other folks from other PLTs and Regiments has been leaning-to-negative through outright-negative. Wanted to know if my plt was the only one with every cadet having a blast.

got back today, 6th reg bco 1st plt.
camp was a lot easier than our 4's made it out to be...aside from the rain in the field it wasn't bad at all.
our road marches definitely got nerfed too...we only had a 4k road march from the patrolling finish site to some busses which brought us home. Our lt. colonel was like "congratulations, none of you fell out." 2.5 miles, it would have been sad if someone did.
patrolling tacs seemed to be luck of the draw. my patrol got some pretty cool tacs, they called endex before any of us sent up a salute or medevac request. the other half of our platoon got an NCO literally named Sgt. Dick who never called endex, made them physically carry their kia/wounded to the next patrol base , and dig fighting positions with 50% security every night.

I was in 6th regiment... A/4/4. It definitely wasn't as hard as the 4's said is was. They pretty much hyped it up for no reason. Patrolling was the worst though. We had this crazy transportation corps Capt. He made us do the longest which was about 2500 meters then made us do it again and come back through. We had madd variables for no reason. I would say the worst part of camp was all the "Tac Time" camp could have been so much shorter.

haha... SFC Dick was my squad's mentor at LTC. Told us how back when he first signed up he used to smoke weed with the Vietnam vets in the 82nd. He then explained to us how big brother is taking over and they might be putting chips in us soon...

Your 4's weren't exagherating, they gave you the best available information that we all had. I went to camp in 04 and sat in on the Commandant's lunch....he specifically told us LDAC standards were going to get tougher this year, that they were going to do more rucking, etc.
Obviously that didn't turn out to be true. Not sure why the tougher standards weren't implemented, but last year at the end of camp they told all of us things were going to be far tougher than what we face....4k ruck march? God thats fuckin weak....we had to do a 8k on the hottest day of the summer on our last day of Patrolling

You must know a cadet named Nishimuta then...he was in our platoon.
The first night of patrolling during classes, I went to the skookums. I ran into Nish. I asked him how he was, and he promptly started cursing. He went on to tell me how he had gone to LTC last summer and had SFC Dick, and how much he hated him. Turned out he had SFC Dick again this summer for patrolling...Needless to say, he wasn't too happy. :D

I've heard three years of 4's coming back from camp saying how the next year they were going to implement so much new shit, flack jacket's, longer ruck marches, more urban tactics, no more second chances on land nav and pt tests...and that shit never happens...camp is a joke

Well I'll be the first to call you out on being wrong here. The previous two years LDAC implemented exactly what our 4's told us they would.
The year before I went to camp we were told to expect more road marches, longer STX/patrolling, flak vests whenever possible and tougher standards(i.e. boarding CDTs out of ROTC for failing to perform).
My 4's were correct on all points except the flak vests, LDAC 04 wasn't able to get enough to wear them all the time, so we only had them during M-16 qualification and the HG asslt course. But we ended up spending twice as much time out in the field and rucking than Adv Camp `03
For whatever reason, based on the reports I've recieved from friends that just got back, the standards for LDAC went down this year as opposed to being tougher like we were told. Why that happened I don't know.
Is Camp a Joke? Its not a tough event and I don't think anyone expects it to be...its just getting through the daily Dog N Pony show to the best of your ability.

the road march that was scheduled to take place out to squad stx was nixed after 1st reg had too many injuries I believe. I don't think it went down hill from last year however, as we did stay out in the field a few more days than last year.

Here's what I was told...
They switch out MG's (this time around is MG Thrasher) every 2 years or so. So each new one wants to do it their way and say all these big changes are going to come around when it would normally take years for them to come around. However, they dont have years to work with before another MG comes in and wants it their way.
Yeah, this was coming from one of my TACs that has been part of "the system" for a few years and simply his observance. I asked him why it wasn't as hard as they said it was gonna be, this is what he told me.
Cerebroden
24 July 2005, 16:20
hmm ok yea see here's where you don't know shit, and it helps to have your best friend being a colonel's son and talk to MG thrasher on a regular basis, I knew what was gonna happen at camp the past few years before it happened cuz I was told, basically straight from thrasher what was gonna happen
