View Full Version : Waiver
Hey all, I've never posted in here before, but have read quite a bit. You all seem pretty knowledgeable about how shit works, so lets see if any of you can help me out.
I just finished my MS III year was getting ready for LDAC and then I tore my Posterior Cruciate Ligament playing intramural soccer. I'll have to miss LDAC and go next summer as an end of camp commissionee. That part I am not worried about, however according to the DODMERB site it looks like I'm going to need a waiver.
Anyone have any experience with getting a waiver if you've been contracted for 3 years already and are a scholarship cadet?
And if any of you end of camp commissionees want to chime in with what that experience is like, feel free to!! Thanks a bunch!

I was an EOCC and also tore some cartilage in my knee my MSII year. Not sure what waiver you are refering to however. Is this an APFT waiver or something?
Being an EOCC has a few advantages, but more disadvantages IMHO. Biggest plus: you don't have to stand in formation during that God forsaken graduation ceremony. Plus it's nice to be done with your cadet training at that point and not have to go back to school. On the downside, you won't be branched till around December, and won't leave for OBC till later than that. I commissioned in July '03 and didn't report till January '04, and I got lucky and got an early slot. You don't receive any pay for that time period, so you are poorer than when you were a cadet. You'll have to find a job or something to hold you over, good luck getting anything decent since you'll be leaving it in probably 6 months. You can't go to any schools (ABN, AA, etc), you can't GBR, you can't do anything for the Army. You can GBR after being branched, but if you are like me you'll be leaving for OBC before you get the chance. Another negative is that you don't come up for promotion till 18 months AD or 24 months since commissioning. Which means all your buddies that graduated with you that were already branched will be promoted earlier than you. But I guess it was kind of nice having some time off before reporting in.

We had a CDT in our BN that tore his ACL in an intrameral soccer game last year (during his MS III year). He is going to LDAC this summer to be an EOCC too. He ddidn't do shit either. He was finally cleared to do a APFT this April.
Don't know a whole lot of details other than he had to get rehab over and then a note from his orthapedic doc that his knee is expected to make a 100% full recovery, otherwise, he would be disenrolled.
So i guess what I am saying is I don't know about a waiver or the process, but I know people like you.

Just insure that you list the injury as "sports related" in your physical.
Alright well thanks for all of you that posted something relatd to it, that does help, I'll also be working with my cadre so we'll see what happens. Take it easy.
