I work at an aircraft charter/training fbo during the weekends. Had an unusual client today. Presidential canidate Rev. Al Sharpton flew out just now to Dulles. Apparently he was down at the SC State game (SCSU is a HBC/U) Yes his hair is as unusual in person as on tv. Flying out with him was an ABC reporter who did a quick interview about Howard Deans latest rebel flag comments. I was sitting in the background, maybe you'll catch me on the news. Anyways, thought I'd share this tid bit.

Something to the effect of "I want to be the canidate for 'the man with the confederate flag on the back of their pickup'"

From what I can remember and/or understand: something or other about not having a nazi symbol on your truck and that the confederate flag is a symbol of racism, blah blah blah.

Here it is:

Candidate and civil rights activist Al Sharpton who has accused Dean of having an "anti-black agenda" said he was "surprised and disturbed" by the Confederate flag remark. "If I said I wanted to be the candidate for people that ride around with helmets and swastikas, I would be asked to leave," Sharpton said.

I thought enough people were asking Al Sharpton to leave already...?

Here's the full story from the reporter that was doing the interview at my work place:

Sharpton criticizes Dean remarks

Nov. 3 — Reverend Sharpton's fighting spirit is refreshed — courtesy of Howard Dean, whose recent comment on "guys with Confederate flags on their pick-up trucks" provided the weekend's biggest excitement.

Sharpton told ABC News that "it is unthinkable to me that one would in any way give license to acceptance of people that have a Confederate flag. If I were to say that I want to be the candidate for those that wear a helmet and swastika, people would ask me to leave the race and they'd be right. I took Mr. Dean at his word — that he represented the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party, not the Dixiecratic wing."

The remainder of the weekend was a bit of a South Carolinian respite, except for a chartered flight to Washington for the Kennedy/King Dinner, where Sharpton was the only candidate to show up and talk to a relatively tough crowd for a total of 20 minutes — focusing almost entirely on D.C. statehood.

What a dumbass. Besides, Dean made comments like that as far back as Feb the news say and there's nothing wrong with that. If anything, dipshit with the lacquered hairdo is the racist here.
