that was some of the shit i had problems with when i got to ROTC. lack of supplys. it was great before the first FTX when i asked where the radios, NVGs, M249s and such were. they looked at me like i was crazy. then i told them how much of that shit i had to sign for at one point and they started to get really pissed. i guess some ROTC cadets have never seen some of that shit let alone been responsible for keeping track of it.

but yeah, good shit Domer.

I can't remember if it was true in ROTC, but my friend "ishmael" served witht he 3rd Ranger BN in Italy, and they were under srtict orders that they were never to use their field jackets, or anything gore-tex, as it may make the Rangers look "soft" (I think that's ranger for smart). Anyhow, that's where "not allowed to use" came from. I seem to remember having to put our jacket liners on under our BDU tops instead of the actual field jackets, because they looked so ate up. No shit. It was in my ruck for the better part of a month before FTX, and the Army didn't want to spring for the Dockers Wrinkle-free twill.

Like I said. Can't quite remember this actually happening or not. BUT IT COULD HAVE. Just have a quick chuckle and move on with your life.

BTW I always thought the jacket liner under the BDU top was better looking and was less cumersome anyways. A good move for the well-dressed soldier to be in the field. (And it made me look like I had more guns. At least that's what Sam's mom kept saying.)
