Just got back from mine today :) Lonnnnnng weekend. Little sleep, lotta training. APFT, LandNav, STX. I did alright I suppose... I got a 281 on the APFT. The pushups were the worst I've ever done in 2 years, I did 58. That's an 82 :o I dont know what it was, just ran outta energy early. I maxxed the pushups last week's APFT at my school though. Could've been since I was PL that I didnt eat anything the previous 18 hours, and just started hydrating before the pushup event. But then explain the 13:05 on my run, that's one of the best I've gotten, not too bad. So bleh, I really pissed myself off with pushups.
Got 8/8 in day landnav, 4/5 in night (i missed the EASIEST point I had, the only road-side point! wtf!?)
Got an E for the leadership position I did as the PL and then S for STX. *shrugs*

Anyone else go to the 4th brigade ftx?

Good job, bro. Glad things went overall well. And yeah- food's a crutch. But we like crutches. They help prevent permanant injury.

Got back from mine this weekend too, got wet too. A whole lotta hollerin', a whole lotta not gettin' anything done, and a whole lotta "what's goin' on?"

Should it take 3 hours for a group of college students to set up a fire guard?

Just got back from 2nd brigade jftx yesterday where i was opfor. a whole lot of standing in the rain waiting to get "ambushed" (even though we saw the ambushers well in advance nearly every time we had to pretend we couldn't see them until they started firing) our terrain models kicked ass though :D

Hmmm, if you were stationary then it wasn't an ambush... Probably movement to contact, squad attack.
For educational purposes I'll reference... In your FM 7-8 checkout 3-20 for ambush and 4-8 for battle drill 1. You'll visually distinguish the 2.

It's easy, just force the 1's and 2's to do it all night, regardless of length! That's what my Batt. did until this semester. The Cadre never caught on to the fact that the OPFOR was always exhausted. This year my Msg. noticed the list and chewed out the 3's for being lazy as hell. It went somethin to the effect of "WTF is this? Are the 1's and 2's going to LDAC? F*ck no, you are! And you will fire guard with them." Made for a real nice night, managed to get 6 hours of sleep

hey, that FM 7-8 in the downloads section, is that the updated one with the urban combat chapter (6 I believe?) or is it the old one?

April 2001 I believe was the publication date. It's the new one.

Heh, I got 12 hours of sleep in 4 days. Suckage.
MS3s did firewatch exclusively. Fuckin' 2's and 4's OPFOR sat around being lazy the whole time... Left their shit out all the time even when they left. Hell, I even came across an MS2's weapon in the barracks when I went to check to make sure it was cleared... I thought, damn I could take it but just left it. This was a weekend of me learning, not teaching.

Weapon left in the barracks??? OH SNAP! Nothing happened about it I take it.

I've plenty of time to do the teaching here soon... So this deuce, he got lucky with that. I was PL and hadda form up my platoon, so I had no time to fuck with him.

Damn. Would have taken the time to chew his ass out on that one.

sorry i didn't explain fully, we were stationary at our real world "patrol base" for 99% of the time waiting for the cadre to give us a call on the radio to "start walking down the trail" once the ambushers were in position
