Special Schools PT was a big crapfest when I was in college. If you wanted to go to Airborne, Air Assault, etc, you HAD to participate. The MSIVs would actually wear black hats like SGT Airbornes and yell at us. You would go through uniform inspections, have to write essays on things like "Ft. Riley" and "Why I want to be Airborne." Then, you would go outside, in the snow and 0-10 degree weather in a T-shirt and BDU pants to run miles and miles. I often prayed that a car would hit me, just so I could stop. Everyone ended up getting sick and since it was at the beginning of the semester, everyone skipped classes to sleep, started to fail, and ruined their GPAs. AIRBORNE!

I had to wear gloves in the blinding heat. But then again, I wasn't allowed to have a weapon, either. Damn psych evals.

Oh God, so many examples of poor leadership to think about, I can't hardly choose just one or two. I'll have to sit and think about this one for a while. I'm sure I can come up with some good ones. I always loved how devising a fire guard schedule turned into the chore of the century. It's just a freaking list of names people, don't retard the situation.

"You need to have your car inspected before you get your pass inspected"
"I'm not driving though"
"That's not important"
(Real Army though)

We had a SSG once who decided to order ball ammunition (as opposed to blanks) for force on force ops... thankfully one of the MSIIIs loading the deuce noticed. Damn cadre.

Ooohh... here's another good one:
Had a MAJ once who--after briefing the group on proper safety measures with smoke greandes--proceeded to head out on a STX lane and toss a grenade into a dry riverbed full of leaves. The resulting fire cleared all the lanes in the vicinity, and had the firemen called in. Good thing he did it, too... I was getting so sick of the STX lanes that I was about to do some stupid shit like that for a break.

It's gotta be better than when I got a gernade simulator tossed right between my legs as I was rushing an OBJ. It felt real good I can tell you that.

New term for FTx in my Battalion, Formation Training Exercsie. I just got back from our Fall ftx, some newbies came up with this one. We all thought it was pretty damn funny, fall in just to put out information such as "fall out so as to fall back in, in 10 minutes"

I forgot to mention that they only alow cadre to throw grenades because "they know what they are doing, more responsible, yada yada yada" Tell that to my bleeding ears and smoking nuts.
