oh, and if you make friends with me and notice all my stuff is sensored its because we arent allowed by west point to disclose things on thefacebook, specifically address, phone number, and birthday. we are also not allowed to be on any groups that are inflamitory in any way... this seems to include things like 5 and out as a club. the email is pretty funny that explains it, basically saying we are not restricted from expressing ourselves on the internet. but that we cant express ourselves where anyone can notice, like the internet.

I wouldn't say anyone is "angry" or anything like that, it's just that everyone thinks this new feature is just retarded. Plus, if you don't want people to see those updates, there are "X"s for you to delete those items from everyone's view. Plus, it does not send that information to everyone on facebook, just the ones you have on your friend's list. So, again, people are retarded. If you don't want people to see certain information:

1. Don't put them on your friend list
2. Edit your privacy settings
3. If you have some person on your friend list that you don't really like, but have to have them on the list (random people from high school, or gf's friends), then again, edit privacy settings. There's a handful on my friend list that basically see nothing from my profile.

Yeah, I understand that most of us that have posted in this thread are just thinking that this new facebook feature is retarded, but it's ridiculous for people to get overworked about this, and the media reporting a story like this the way they did.

Again, people are stupid, edit privacy settings.

I deleted my account. I do not like their new policies and how they are selling all info to third parties. It had some use originally as it connected college students, now it has become just to big. In many ways it has become is what Myspace was originally, I did not join that and have no interest in continuing with this. Plus some of thier corpoorate governance is worrisome, I think if they IPO and are publicacly traded and subject to SEC regulations, I might trust them again.

I am just waiting for it to fade away like most Internent business.
