article (http://s92270093.onlinehome.us/crmdevel/resources/paper/darkblue/darkblue.htm)
Concerns the B-52 crash at Fairchild in 1994.
Real interesting, and you ought to read the analysis carefully.

Col. Asshole got what he deserved. It's a shame he took 3 others with him.

that newsreport was horrible, but I don't think a 20 sec report on the incident could do any of the pilots justice

Fortunately the newsreport did address one of the incidents mentioned in the article, although it couldn't go in depth enough to show exactly how bad it was. It also didn't mention how the Vice Wing Commander was aboard for his fini flight. His wife and children were waiting for him on the tarmac.

as a side note from what I heard, Lt Col McGeehan as the co pilot was the only one who attempted to punch out. The other two not at the stick coulnd't see how bad the situation was from their position. You could actually see the flash of the ejection in the video. The hatch hit the tail as the aircraft hit the ground. Lt Col McGeehan's ejection seat didn't clear the rails before the aicraft impacted.

With a descent like that and such a large fuel load, he would have had to eject the moment the LtCol started the turn to make it...

I feel for the families, throughout my dad's years of flying he's had many friends killed in aircraft accidents.

People,
We can learn something from this, the rules and regs are there for a reason. A family had to watch their dad die because of a flagrant disregard for these regs. :( What a shame
